This picture has the strangest effect on me; I was really interested in the membranes and seeds when I decided to take the picture, and I'm pleased with the detail. But it makes me feel squeamish when I look at it. It's like looking at a terrible wound where bone and muscle and blood is visible. Perhaps because this IS a terrible wound (for the melon) and we are peering into the center of it's life, which is now spilling out. I'm fascinated, but I also want to turn away.

I love this! The precision of creation and the details of moisture are great! The seeds have an almost swirling quality to them. Do some more, maybe a cucumber or kiwi?
Patrushka: I dunno, Leo...I think we're off fruits for awhile, given the morbid nature of this shot. I could try something totally different and focus on vegetables, I suppose...bring out their unique character and turn them into prize-winning recipes. For example, how about "Alien Invasion" featuring Kohlrabi in Cheese Sauce? A kohlrabi looks like an outer space creature so I would emphasize that with bold lighting. It would sit in a saucer with a nice sharp cheddar cheese sauce at the bottom. Out with the melons! Bring on the veg!
